Important Update: Expanding Platform Support for MemoryPlugin

Information about upcoming permissions update and LibreChat support

Posted by

We're expanding MemoryPlugin to support more AI platforms, starting with LibreChat integration. This update requires a brief action from our users.

Watch this quick demo to see what you'll need to do when the update rolls out:

What's Changing?

  • Adding support for LibreChat, with more platforms coming soon
  • Updating permissions to support self-hosted platforms
  • Preparing foundation for future platform integrations

Technical Background

To support LibreChat and future self-hosted platforms, MemoryPlugin needs broader host permissions. This is because self-hosted instances can run on any domain, and we need to ensure the extension works regardless of where you host your AI platform. This is a standard requirement for extensions that work with self-hosted platforms.

As always, MemoryPlugin only accesses your data on the platforms you explicitly use it with, despite the broader permissions request.

Required Action

Starting November 16th, you'll see an error message in Chrome about MemoryPlugin needing new permissions. When this happens, you'll need to re-enable the extension. This is a one-time action to grant the necessary permissions for supporting LibreChat and future platforms.

Timeline

  • Update Release: Starting November 16th, 2024
  • Action Needed: Click 'Enable' when you see the error message in Chrome
  • Downtime: None (works immediately after re-enabling)

What To Expect

  • You'll see an error message in Chrome about permissions
  • Click the error message to re-enable MemoryPlugin
  • LibreChat support will be available immediately after re-enabling
  • More platform integrations will follow in the coming weeks
